No.17|Scents for Autumn|FRAGRANCE LAB.BLOG

 Hello everyone,

The heat of summer is gradually easing off, and we are now getting into the mood for autumn. The heavy smell of the summer air is becoming clearer as the temperature and humidity drop.
Now, what scents do you imagine when you think of autumn? For me, “The scent of autumn” is an abstract expression, but I have an image of warmth and calmness in its hues and smells, in contrast to the cooler air. The reddening trees, sunsets, fallen leaves, and the soft scent of autumn flowers are the sceneries I have to form the image of Autumn.

In this 17th edition of FRAGRANCE LAB.BLOG, fragrance manufacturer ART LAB. brings you “Autumn Fragrances Recommendation.” We will pick up and introduce you to three fragrances from our room fragrance oil store 201LAB, “Your favorite fragrance, as much of it as you like.”

Recommendation No.1: “Oriental Sunset”

In “The Pillow Book,” Sei Shonagon wrote that the best time of day in Japan’s four seasons are “dawn in spring,” “night in summer,” “dusk in autumn,” and “early morning in winter.” It is written that in autumn, there is less dust in the air and the air becomes dry, so there is less light and things that obstruct the view, and the sky is clear and beautiful to the eye. When autumn clouds such as mackerel sky and sheep clouds appear there, the red light of the sunset is scattered even more, and the entire sky is all bright red.

For those who want to feel the scent of such a magical sunset, we recommend “Oriental Sunset,” a room fragrance oil inspired by the image of the blazing sunset over the East China Sea. The spirit for dreaming of a beautiful sunset is universal.

Top notes are peach, mango, and orange, a warm fruity blend reminiscent of sunset skies. The middle note Chamomile, one of the most well-known herbs, creates a dry feel of an autumn sunset. The base note is a warm scent of amber, which adds depth and serenity to the overall fragrance.

Recommendation No.2: “Kinmokusei(Osmanthus)”

As the weather turns chilly, a rich, sweet fragrance wafts in the air from everywhere. Many people may think of the small orange flowers of “Tea Olive” when they think of autumn. The scientific name for the tea olive is “Osmanthus.” The name is derived from the Greek words “osme,” meaning fragrant, and “anthos,” meaning flower.

Various brands sell fragrances of Osmanthus for a limited time in the fall, and 201LAB brand offers “Kinmokusei” as a standard room fragrance oil all year round.

This fragrance, inspired by a scene of Osmanthus in bloom, has a rich, mellow sweetness and a relaxing blend that evokes a sense of nostalgia and warmth.

Recommendation No.3: “Night Dream”

Many people choose refreshing citrus fragrance in the summer, but when the weather turns chilly in the fall, sweet scents with a sense of warmth are perfect for long autumn nights.

It may be a good idea to renew your fragrance to match the changes in season and feel the long autumn nights with a slightly spicy sweet scent. “Night Dream” is a room fragrance oil with a scent recommended for such occasions.

It is a blend of woody greens and spices that remind you of trees illuminated by the moonlight. The spice is sweet cinnamon, which gives the fragrance a warm tone, and tangy ginger, which adds a nice zing to the overall scent.

Ginger is also a plant that is in season from late summer to fall, and although it is not well known, it produces large white flowers. We hope you will try to feel and find autumn scattered in this magical fragrance.
